Australia's time zones
Australia has three standard time zones:
- AWST, UTC+8: Western Australia (
Australia/Perth). - ACST, UTC+9:30: South Australia and the Northern Territory (
Australia/Adelaide,Australia/Darwin). - AEST, UTC+10: Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria and Tasmania (
Australia/Brisbane,Australia/Sydney).
New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia use daylight saving from 2am on the first Sunday in October to 3am on the first Sunday in April. Adelaide moves to ACDT (UTC+10:30) and the south-east to AEDT (UTC+11). Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory keep standard time all year, so in the Australian summer the mainland runs on five different clocks, and Brisbane is an hour behind Sydney.
Two oddities: Broken Hill in New South Wales follows South Australian time, and Lord Howe Island is on UTC+10:30, moving only half an hour forward in summer.

Converting the time
6pm in Brisbane is 9am in London during British Summer Time and 8am in winter, because Queensland never changes its clocks. For other places and dates, use the time zone converter, or the meeting planner for a call across several states.
