How to print a calendar on A4

  1. Open the year or month you want from the lists below.
  2. Press Print this calendar, or Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac).
  3. Check that the paper size is A4 and the layout is landscape. Most browsers pick this up from the page; if yours doesn't, set it in the print dialogue.
  4. Set margins to Default or Minimum and turn off "Headers and footers", so the web address and date don't print on the sheet.
  5. To keep a file instead of paper, choose "Save as PDF" as the printer.

What prints

Only the calendar. The header, menus, buttons and the notes below each calendar are left off. Bank holidays in England and Wales are shaded grey and named under each month, and today has a thin outline, so the sheet works on a black-and-white printer. Week numbers sit in the narrow Wk column on the left of each month.

Printing on A3 or other paper

Choose A3 as the paper size and keep landscape. If the calendar stays A4-sized in one corner, set Scale to about 141%, which is the size ratio between A4 and A3, or use "Fit to page" if your printer offers it. For US Letter, keep the scale at 100%; the narrower margins still fit. An A3 year calendar makes a simple wall planner.

For a school year that runs from September to August, use the academic year calendar. To browse months on screen, use the calendar browser.

Frequently asked questions

Are the printable calendars free?

Do the calendars show week numbers?

Yes. The Wk column shows ISO week numbers, the system most UK businesses use. Weeks run Monday to Sunday. Check this week's week number.

Which bank holidays are marked?

England and Wales bank holidays are shaded and named under each month. Each month page also lists the Scotland and Northern Ireland bank holidays. See all UK bank holidays.

Why does my calendar print on two pages?

The page is usually set to portrait, or the scale is above 100%. Switch to landscape, set Scale to 100% or Default, and set margins to Default or Minimum.

How do I save a calendar as a PDF?

Press Print this calendar, then choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF on Windows) as the printer. The PDF keeps the A4 landscape layout.
