Days between dates
Pick two dates to see the exact gap in days, weeks, months, weekdays and working days.
Including the end date or not
By default, the calculator measures the gap between two dates. From Monday to Friday is 4 days. That's the right count for "how long until" questions and most deadlines.
Tick Include the end date when both the first and last day should count, as in the length of a holiday, a hotel stay measured in days rather than nights, or a period of leave. Monday to Friday inclusive is 5 days.
What each result means
- Days: every calendar day, including weekends and 29 February in leap years.
- Years, months and days: whole calendar months first, then leftover days. 15 January to 3 March is 1 month and 16 days in a non-leap year.
- Weekdays: Monday to Friday.
- Working days: weekdays that are not bank holidays in England and Wales.

Frequently asked questions
Should I include the end date?
Include it when both the first and last day count, such as the length of a holiday or a hospital stay. Leave it out to measure the gap between two dates, such as how many days until an event.
How many days are there between two dates in different years?
The calculator counts every calendar day, including 29 February in leap years, so dates years apart are counted exactly.
Does it work for dates in the past?
Yes. Enter any two dates in either order. If the end date is earlier, the dates are swapped and the result tells you.
